A Bus Ride

Posted by Ginger~~Enchanting Cottage

I babysit two of our grandchildren every Thursday and I like to do different things with them so they can have fun. This past Thursday I decided to take the on a bus ride around our city. I have never been on a bus around town before,I never had any reason to ride the bus. It was so interesting to see  all the different people who got on the bus. I was wandering what their story was. This bus ride humbled me,and my heart went out to the people who don't have a choice between riding the bus or driving their car.

Matthew 7:1-2

Winter 2011 Cover

There are so many times when I'm in the mood to read a domestic magazine but while I'm doing so I'm thinking that I should be reading my Bible or at least a devotional. I just found this magazine the other day and was so excited. It has some great articles that are Christian based and they have guest writers and some amazing testimonies, they also have recipes and decorating ideas.  There is a calendar to help you read the Bible in a year.I just wanted to share this with everyone because I think that you may enjoy it as much as I did.

I just love going to Arizona to visit Clif and Charlotte, they have such  amazing hospitality one can sure get spoiled there. I'm so glad I'm a part of this wonderful family, thank-you Clif and Charlotte for opening up your home to us.

I hope that you have time to visit other blogs this weekend,thank-you for stopping by my blog today. Please stop by Spiritual Sunday for other links to some great bloggers.

200 year old Oak Trees

Pearls for the Soul

Time To Grow

Posted by Ginger~~Enchanting Cottage

When our first grandson was a toddler one of his favorite places to eat was McDonald's, I didn't think he would every grow out of McDonald's. He is now 7 and his favorite place to eat is In and Out. He has matured  enough to know that In and Out has a much better hamburger and is more filling, and satisfying  than McDonald's. McDonald's was good and had it's purpose but time changes things. I feel like the church we go to is like a McDonald's and we need to mature into a In and Out.  we need to grow and were not growing because nobody likes McDonald's anymore, they want In and Out.

Our church is having a meeting tomorrow the second one of two, please pray for this meeting and our church. We are loosing good families and are not getting any new families, our church has stopped growing. I apologize for the analogy of a hamburger place compared to our church but as serious as this matter is I thought it was the best way  I could explain. Thank-you for your prayers for our church.

Faith..until it is tested
Peace..until faced with conflict
Trust..until we are betrayed
Love..until it is lost
Hope..until confronted with doubts

Mentors

April 30,2011

I had wrote out a post yesterday but decided that it was not what I wanted to blog about, have you ever changed your mine like that? This post is on my heart today so I hope that you don't mind me telling you a little story. Yesterday my husband and I went to a memorial for a could that past away at out church. Bernie, the wife past away April 15 of last year, the husband Joe, past away April 10,of this year.Bernie was 85 and Joe was 88,they were married for 65 years. They didn't have a memorial for Bernie last year because Joe just had surgery and was recovering. Joe never did recover and went to be with the Lord a year later. This couple was such a mentor to my husband and I,they will be missed enormously. Bernie had host many tea party's  in her time and I was blessed to be able to host one with her, I will always cherish that day. For the last 5 years of Bernie's life  was confined  in a wheel chair because of a stroke, Joe was a devoted husband and took care of her. Joe had broke his hip and had to go be in a rehabilitation hospital, when he was there he had no one to take care of Bernie so he paid for her to have a room at that same rehabilitation center.Bernie had to be on the other side of the center since she was not a patient. She would visit him daily driving down the halls in her wheel chair. It was while she was there that she had another stoke that took her life. Joe was more than ready
to be with his Lord and his wife, they will both be missed. I wanted to plant a rose bush in memory of Bernie, I came across one with the name Elegant Lady, that's the one, that's the rose bush I will plant at our church in memory of this elegant women. She was known for always having just the right jewelry on to match what  outfit she had on. After she had past away Joe ask me if I wanted some of her costume jewelry, her jewelry box was as tall as my dresser. Joe laughed and said he never really realized how much money she spent on jewelry or how many cloths she had.

Dear Lord thank-you for bring this couple into my life, Bernie was a Proverbs women for sure and has taught me many things, and Joe who was a carpenter has fixed a thing or two at our home not to mention hundred's of things at church and at many homes of the people in our church. I will miss them both until the day comes when we meet again.
It's in your name Lord Amen

Before There was SUNDAY There was FRIDAY

I was not there, but I can feel the chills in my body,  I can  feel the earth move, I can  here the rumble in the sky. The pain that the Lord went through for you and me.
Jesus had told his disciples and friends that he would rise after 3 days, they  wanted to believe him because they loved him. Three days after Jesus was crucified he indeed raised  from the dead.

Heavenly father,
My words alone can not express my love for you ,my words alone will never be able to thank-you enough.
I pray that my heart and actions show how grateful I am for you and how much I love you,Thank-you Lord for dieing for me so that I can live with you in eternity.
Amen

Nothing to Fear
 Psalms 34:4-5

I sought the Lord, and he answered me,
he delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant,
their faces are never covered with shame.

God walks with us. He scoops us up in His arms or simply sits
with us in silent strength until we cannot avoid the awesome
recognitions that yes, even now, He is here.
     By Gloria Gather

There are so many rumors going around at my work these days.
Our contracts up, my location my close the doors, our pay may get cut.
It is hard to avoid these rumors, it's hard to trust my company, but it's not
hard to trust in the Lord. In my heart I feel that why should I be exempt from a cut pay.
Men and women who work to protect our city have had a huge cut in pay, I can live
with a cut in pay. What bothers me is I see how much of a profit my company makes,
the only word that comes to my mind is greed!

Proverbs 28:25

He who is of a greedy spirit stirs up strife, but he who puts his trust in the Lord shall be enriched and blessed

About 15 years ago we planted over 50 shrubs and a handful of trees. I had a vision, all I wanted to see out our windows were living walls.  This was not very easy over the years, with different  kinds of weather, and water shortages it was a challenge but now when we look out of every one of our windows all we see is green and all we here are birds, we feel like were somewhere else and not in a neighborhood.I new that I could not just plant all of these shrubs and trees without watering them,or feeding them, because I new they had a purpose a pretty big one at that. I didn't want to risk loosing any of them.I needed to nurture them in order for them to grow just the right way. This is how our Christianity  is, we can't just be baptized and think that over night we will be a mature Christian, it can take years~and years of becoming a mature Christian . We need to nurture our souls, we need to water ,and feed our Christianity. We need to have faith and trust in the Lord.

Acts 14:22

22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.

I just love Francesca's  Battistelli new song, so of course I wanted to share it with all  of you.  I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did .I ask my husband if I should share this song, he said he had no comment so I'm thinking he thought maybe it wasn't one of the better Christian songs that I have played,  but it may put a smile on your face and it may make you realize that this is just the small stuff.

Hello Friends,

I received a gift from a lady at church, it's a little book called Whispers of Faith. There are so many wonder little quotes and scriptures that I have been sharing them with you from time to time, here is another one from this little book of encouragement.

Pray Now
It is not a question of praying and asking God to help you,
it is the grace of God now.
We tend to make prayer the preparation for our service
yet it is never that in the Bible.
Prayer is the practice of drawing on the grace of God...Pray now,
draw on the grace of God in your moment of need.

Direction

I find the great thing in this world
is not so much where we stand, as
in what direction we are moving.
To reach the port of heaven, we
must sail sometimes with the wind
and sometimes against it, but we
must sail, and not drift nor lie at
anchor.

Here is the poem that I wanted to post last week,I hope you enjoy it. This is a poem by a man name Mike Bullock.
Resolution
I've made a resolution
I think you'll be impressed
I'm going to take a step of faith
And slowly get undressed
Removing things that I've accrued
The baggage I've amassed
The trappings gained from sources wide
The weight of which is vast.
Underneath this bulging mass
There lies a simple soul
Simple walk, a simple faith
That's always been my goal
I've tried to do it many ways
The do's and don'ts are rife
But I am who I am, you see
An individual life.
So back to basics I will go
And get to know my Dad
A personal relationship
Is ready to be had
I've messed around these many years
And dropped out of the race
A simple walk, a simple faith
I need to seek His face.

Being Humble

Sometimes I wonder if I'm as humble as I would like to think I am, or more important am I as humble as the Lord would like me to be.

1 Peter 5:5
5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

Matthew 23:12
12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

James 4:6
6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.

Lunch Hours

I am very blessed to be able to go home for lunch, I live maybe 1 mile from work. So of course I go home for lunch, my lunch hour normally goes something like this. Empty dish washer, make lunch, check email, pay bills. It's anything but relaxing. I have decided to start taking my lunch to work and sit in my car and read the Bible. My work is on a hill and you can see miles and miles on a clear day it is the most beautiful view. Something about reading my Bible while looking out at our Lords creations is so fulfilling for me and helps reduce my stress level. How do you spend your lunch hour? Is this the time you like to read your Bible?

Happy New Year

I want to let everyone know how much I appreciate all of you. This past year I feel like I have been so blessed. Reading all of your post always touch my heart. Lately I don't feel like I have been a very good blog host, the past three months have been very busy for me at work, the older I get the harder it is to have a job that is so physical. Now that the holidays are behind us I hope to be a better host. Thank-you Charlotte for putting up with me over that last few months.
