Being Humble

Sometimes I wonder if I'm as humble as I would like to think I am, or more important am I as humble as the Lord would like me to be.

1 Peter 5:5
5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

Matthew 23:12
12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

James 4:6
6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.

Happy weekend Ginger, These are beautiful verses to start my day. I wish you a blessed weekend.

I agree Ginger, We are to be humble. The opposite of this word is proud. A place where too many of us are these days. Proud of ourselves, of who we are and what we own. Instead we need to have humble sharing hearts full of kindness and love. Bless you. xx

Hi Ginger,

Thank you for sharing this post on humility. Like you, I seek to be humble in God's eyes, not my own.

Blessings and peace.

Love the picture and caption. I too
want to be humble before Him.It is so easy to get caught up in "ourselves" and our importance.

Thank you Ginger...Humility...what a toughie for us humans..and I sometimes think it is a difficult path to pursue in this world...our culture is so ME driven and even when we know we want God first and self last...our relationships with other humans always tests our drive for that pursuit. "WHAT about ME??? sometimes races through our thoughts...sigh. One day at a time! God's grace is sufficient! Enjoyed!!!!!! (challenged!)

I think these are questions we all need to ask ourselves, Ginger. Who was it that said, "It's hard to be humble when you're perfect in every way." Wow, how we all need to remember that humility is what God wants from us. I've also heard it said that when you think you're humble, that proves you are not. Thank you for sharing this timely post. It's something we all need to think about.
Blessings,
Charlotte

Great post, Ginger. Humility is always something to work on.

I recently read Andrew Murray's book on Humility and it was eye opening at how NOT humble I can be. I pray for more humility too. May we all focus on Jesus more and more and on self less and less. Thanks for your post.

Humility--taking on the attitude that was in Christ. May He work that in me.

Thank you for your post.
