Prayers For Grandchildren

I just finished reading this book called Grandma I Need Your Prayers, Blessing Your Grandchildren through the Power of Prayer by Quin Sherrer, and Ruthanne Garlock. In this book they quoted the verse in the Bible Ephesians 14 -19. I use this verse often when I pray for our grandchildren. They need our prayers daily to be able to survive in our world today. This is always so heavy on my heart and I pray for all 3 daily!


Ephesians 14 - 19



For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

I can't imagine many more important things to pray abut than our grandchildren. I haven't read this book but I'll look for it. My two sweet little girls are on my mind and in my prays all the time!

Our grandchildren are so precious to us. There isn't a better thing that we as grandparents can do for them, than pray! They shall all reap the rewards of our prayers down the road and so shall we also. Thank you for your post.

What a wonderful post. I don't have any grandchildren but I am blessed with having praying grandparents for my children. My mother and father in law are always giving me wonderful advice and praying diligently for my children. My mother and father have also prayed some very powerful prayers for my children. So I am so blessed...Thanks for sharing...have a restful Sunday...Julie

Hi Ginger, I want to thank you for your post because it reminded me of how my Nan use to always pray for me and her other grandchildren and I believe it's because of my Nana's prayers that I know God today. My beautiful Nana is still with us but unfortunately she has alzheimer's disease, even though she doesn't know in her mind who I am anymore I believe her spirit does.
Also that scripture is such a beautiful prayer.

I thank God for praying grandmothers. Mine certainly prayed for me and about everything in her life. What a witness that was to all of us!

Ginger... such a sweet post... It reminded me a few weeks ago, taking my little 6-year old grandaughter... "the Panda" to Starbucks (it's where she wanted to go) for breakfast... We shared a muffin, and just as I was about to take my first big bite she said... "Grandma... aren't you going to bless it?"... So we bowed our heads and held hands... and thanked God for our muffin to share... and I thanked him for my beautiful little Panda... thanks for the reminder... hugs. Dixie

I think that is one of our God-given priviledges - to pray for our grandchildren (and our great grandchildren if we have them).
