How I got started blogging

Posted by Ginger~~Enchanting Cottage

I just thought it would be fun to share how I started blogging and to hear how and why you started to blog. Hear is my story, I was looking for something on line to do with my garden and came across this web page http://carolsgarden.blogspot.com/ at the time I did not even know what blogging was. When I opened up the page my mouth dropped I was in a beautiful garden. I am not very good on the computer so when I opened it I was so AFRAID I was NEVER~~ EVER going find it again, I think I book marked it like 3 times to make sure. Then I was looking at her side bar and stared to click on her favorite blogs, I had know idea they were other blogs. I didn't even know they were blogs. After I explored in the blog world that was it, count me in. Most of my friends are not too much into there homes and garden like I am so I feel so blessed that I have gotten to meet other women who have a passion for there homes and garden like I do. I would love to hear how you got started blogging so please share your story!

Have a wonderful day,

ginger

I don't have much of a different story than yours. I really enjoy seeing people's homes and gardens. I like hearing how they value those things - and it makes me feel better to see that there are others who spend a great deal of time on the same things I do. I know that some people think it's a huge waste of time - to them I say it's no different than hitting a golf ball around a huge yard or sewing little pieces of fabric together to make blankets. Everyone chooses how to spend their time - and we all value what we do, or we wouldn't do it!

I'm a grandma and am a computer techie! I absolutely love helping people with the technical part of it. I've loved computers for years and have 5 in our home. AND they're just for entertainment. It's how we get our news and everything!

I started a group on ebay for lovers of romantic homes and one or two were surfing blogs but I had no interest at first. We had just moved into a new home and were trying to get settled in that.

So when the "blogging" craze caught on I wasn't quick to jump on it but gave it a while before I started surfing. Then I found the "decorating, homes and garden" ones and that was it! I'd found a "new love! I was hooked for sure. My friends think I'm nuts but they just don't understand the "eye candy" involved in looking! Plus I love the crafting blogs also and it gives me ideas for my own home. Drop over and visit, chickadees, when ya get th' chance!! Love visitors.

Hi Ginger,
You know my story. You are the one that got me started. I knew about blogs, but didn't know about all of the feminine blogs out there. All I had seen was my husband's blog and other men's blogs and that did not excite me. After I saw yours, I thought, "I've gotta do that." Thank you for the inspiration.

Hi Ginger,
I didn't do the link to Ruthie right in my post. I think I've got it fixed now. Try it again.
I don't know what happened. I thought I did it like I always do, but it wasn't right.

HI, Ginger, I'm so glad you got inspired to paint something black now! You'll have to let me know how it all turns out so I can take a peek. It's really easy.

How I came to start blogging? I was on a decorating board for several years and met some wonderful women. Some of them started blogging & one in particular encouraged me to start a blog so I did! I love it too.

I got hooked on the decorating blogs. I initailly started my blog for my friends and family that lived far away to be able to keep up with my day to day lie. I had no idea that anyone else would even find my blog let alone enjoy it. I am having a great time with it.

Hi Ginger....I fodun this wonderful world of blogging from a stitching site. Some of the stitchers mentioned blogs and I would go there and from their sidebar I would travel all over. I read blogs fot the longest time and then I thought I would like to do this. I like to journal and thought this would be like a journal...but it is so much more. My daughter helped get started and it has been a wonderful experience. There are so many lovely people and it is a joy to be part of all this.

From your last post you mentioned your MIL was ill. I hope she is better..I will pray for her. Hugs, Linda

What a great idea for a post!

I started my website and then joined a group of women on a "shopping mall" type website to help promote mine. Some of the ladies had blogs and explained to me what they were. Natasha at Artistic Creations or www.natashaburns.blogspot.com helped me set mine up. Then I started by visiting all of her favorite sites and the thing just snowballed!

I've only been blogging about a month. I had heard the word 'blogging' but thought it was for those that wanted to comment on politics and stuff. LOL
Then I started using 'Smilebox' and there was an option to 'blog' the creation...so I did.

Since then I've discovered all these wonderful blogs that I have enjoyed reading so much.
Yours looks wonderful. I will have to spend some time here!

My story is not a whole lot different except I didn't know about blogs at all until I saw Bella Pink in Romantic homes. She listed some blogs to look at. I couldn't believe it! Little magazines, changing everyday! I started doing the favorite blogs from her and would get lost in blogland. I started writing blogs down and then one day said, I think I can do this! To say I am hooked...well you know. Because of my blogging my two best friends started theirs. It is contagious!

Hi Ginger, I started blogging when my daughter suggested that I might like doing one. She had been doing hers for less than a year and was very enthusiastic and encouraging. I just started in May of 2008 so I am quite a newbie but it is such fun!

Also, I've tagged you for a meme - come over to my blog and check it out!

I just found your blog through My Romantic Home. I'll definitely be reading and catching up tonite.

I started hanging out on the internet a lot when I found a decorating message board called Great Impressions. I loved having a bunch of like minded girls to chat with. Then I also got involved with a message board for people who draw....and some of them were keeping blogs of their sketchbooks. I started a blog for that.........and then I discovered the home and garden blogs and I blog about that too! I'm hooked and it inspires me to get busy and work on those projects.
