Seven Days Of Work Make One Weak

Posted by Ginger~~Enchanting Cottage

Exodus 20:9-10

9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.

Good morning Ginger,
God rested on the 7th day. He knew we needed a day of rest and even set the example. Thank you for this reminder.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Rest from all work is good for the soul, God knows what is best! Thank you Ginger for the reminder.

We will definitely break down if we don't rest. And the saddest thing, we aren't going to be able to give Him the time and respect He so deserves from us. One day is all He wants to remember Him...and reflect on His love, mercy and grace.

When we're out of focus, that's when everything is chaotic and not in order. Thank you for this reminder. Have a great weekend. Blessings to you.

You are wise to post this especially on this labor day weekend! I remember when I was small and all the businesses shut down on Sunday!

This makes me think of a book I'm reading, Sacred Waiting--Waiting on God in a World That Waits for Nothing. It's really good. .....I tried to send you an email yesterday. All of a sudden it just went off the screen. LOL If you didn't get it let me know. I'll send another one. Maybe I said something you want to hear.LOL

That is so true---My son, who love history, was telling me about a country in Europe (I forget which one) that at one time tried a 10 day work week. The result was that the animals that were working animals started dying. So they went back to the regular week...intersting.

What a lovely picture, and of course the message to go with it.

This is my first time joining in on Spiritual Sunday & I am really enjoying it. :) I posted "The Stew Story".

Hi Ginger...great reminder for the Labor Day week-end. I can remember when all the stores and business was closed on Sunday...would love to see that again. Somehow, we think shopping isn't labor! When I was little, a SS teacher taught us that the Sabbath was for being restful, but wasn't for being idle...it was for worship and reflecting on the Lord, having family conversations about the blessings received, and reading the Word. Where did that go in our society?

May you have a very restful week-end! Mary

You'll have to make another one of your days a "7th" ...hope you get your rest, soon.

Thanks for sharing this with us today!

Hi Ginger, very fitting for Labor Day weekend. Sunday should be a day of rest. We need to be charged physically and spiritually.

Thank you for fixing my link. I was so tired when I did that post last night. LOL.

Hugs...Jeanne

Good evening Ginger. I really do try to rest each and every Sunday. But sometimes (hanging head in shame) I procrastinate and end up doing a few little things after Mass.

Your gentle reminder has helped me to realize the work will be there the next day.

God bless.
