Are You Ready?

Posted by Ginger~~Enchanting Cottage

Have you ever been to the grocery store and your waiting in line to check out but there seems to be a problem? The person in the front of the line is standing there waiting for the cashier to finish with the order, once the cashier is done the customer gets out her purse, looks for her check book, and then ask for a pin. Well I often wonder why aren't they ready, they know they have to pay their bill, they know it's the only way they will be able to go home is by paying there bill, but they were not ready. We know that Jesus is coming again
because the Bible tells us. Are you ready? Do you want to go home? Or are you going to wait until there is no more time left?

Matthew 24:42 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come."

Acts 3:19-21 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you - even Jesus. He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.

I can imagine people not being ready to pay their bills drives you crazy. It always aggravates me when someone in front of me does this. I always think why do they wait to get their check book out and start filling out the check after all the groceries are checked. Why don't they have the whole thing filled in except the total and adding that wouldn't take very long. This is a good comparison you made to being ready when Jesus comes back. The latter is so much more important but most people don't give it much thought.
Thank you for such a needed post. We need to be ready. There are so many scriptures that point this out.
Blessings,
Charlotte

This was such a good analogy. I love it when someone can relate such an everyday occurence (or in this case an annoyance) with our spiritual lives. It is soo true too. We need to be ready at all times, not caught unaware. We KNOW He's coming. Have a wonderful week. Blessings, Debbie

To be honest with you, Ginger, I can't read this because of the dark background. I guess it is just me in my old age! But I know we need to be ready when the Lord comes back. Thank you for your sweet visit and prayers.

Blessings,
Cathy

The story reminds me what an inconvenience when someone does this...then again, what a great thought-provoking, soul searching question you asked us if we are ready. May I never lag at any moment as His return will come like a thief in the night! God bless and have a great weekend!

Thank you for the post! I guess folks just always think they have time to get serious about the Lord. I don't understand it either! He is coming back, and we need to be ready. Blessings to you!

Really good post, Ginger...we do need to be ready...Jesus isn't going to wait like the grocery checker...we need to always watching for the signs of His return, and be anxiously and joyful ready for that great moment.

God bless,
Mary

Hi Ginger~ When I read this post it reminded me of something my brother in law said lately~ he said he wasn't afraid of getting older because he was getting closer to home... I thought this was a nice way to say Jesus is a bit closer to him....

Hugs and Happy Blessed Holiday Season to you!

I do think I’m ready when the good Lord takes me. But then I think of my children and how much they and my husband still need me, so I don’t think it is my time yet. I do miss my nephew, but I know I will see him along with Jesus someday.

Great post!

God’s Blessings to YOU!
