When I was 17 my dad past away and since then my mom has remarried a wonderful man, they have been married for about 25 years. His granddaughter a women of her own and a mother of a 3 year old has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome(GBS). It is an autoimmune disorder affecting the peripheral nervous system. Wikipedia has a good article explaining what it is. She has lost mobility of her legs. It is curable if caught in time, but it can also be fatal if other complications are present.
